Our daily activities

Our work is supported by the contribution of everyone. We consider that every person involved in the project helps its achievements. Therefore, the work is done on a communal basis.

The winter camp becomes our home during the few days we settle there.  In order for it to happen in harmony everyone helps out on the daily chores, even the children are happy to be of assistance. It is really teamwork, from the baking of the bread to the cleansing of the bathrooms...

The functioning of the kitchen relies on the assistance of the group of volunteers from our NGO partners. Due to the large amount of work, our volunteers also help with the necessary tasks.

The handcraft workshop is a moment where we encourage and value the creativity that lies within every human being; it is a time where we teach and learn together. In 2007, the following workshops were offered: jewelry, thread bracelets, malabaris, lanterns from cans, candles, magic deck, cellular block, cooper rings, cards made out of collage, wool angels, thread mandalas, elastic sculptures.

Along with the workshops, we also offer many activities that stimulate the fantasy, the creativity  and the participation of the children, such as: puzzle solving;  coming up with a name that best represents the day that has gone by; coming up with a play so the kid’s can find out the other group’s name;  daily story telling (we make up a  story based on the Brazilian culture  to tell the kids in the morning and before bedtime - in 2006 we told a story of two indian brothers and in 2007  the  story was about an adventure of two brothers in search of their parents that had been forced to migrate from the northeast to the southeast of Brazil to seek a job); having lunch at tables with thematic names in the company of “lunch buddies” (in 2007 we chose naming the table groups after typical plates of northeastern cooking).
